In case you all didnt know.

Today was Mr Ang's last day teaching us woodwind-ers.

I hope that you all felt a tinge of regret within you at his leaving, at least.

Shows that Mr Ang was a teacher that had at least made a difference in your life.

I understand if the Sec 1s are not really affected by his sudden departure, but to us Sec 3s & above... let's just say that Mr Ang totally helped me in KCCO in so many different ways, and I have yet to repay/thank him properly.

I'm sure that many feel the same way. :') So let's keep Mr Ang in our prayers/thoughts, and maybe we can also design a thank you card for him? To let Noreen pass to him? *wonders* Just an idea.

I dont have much to say about this, just really melancholic... :( Bye bye Mr Ang. :(

Now all there is for our batch of committee members to do is to step down. :(

Damn sad la. All I have to look forward to is CCA fair, CNY perfs, EMDD. That's about all.

But anw.

I hope everyone enjoyed the camp! Fun + tiredness = rewarding, at least...

It was good to see the seniors back too. :)

Oh, and I hope no one got really hurt. But then the games were fun right? I know for a fact that you all enjoyed pulling me on the ground during the night game. :D And that you all enjoyed "bathing" during our wet games. :D

And I hope that the bonds you all made btw members will last. :) Now you all know each other's quirkiness! >:D

Make sure they practice, love what they are doing (that is the most important) and get a Gold/GWH for 2011's SYF! :) Must be hardworking and do your best for every performance that we have. This will be my first and only time posting. so cherish this post ok?

While I'm are still in kcco guanyue, i really hope you all can treasure the times the seniors and you had and going to have. And morever it's only 4 more days we'll spend together in kcco, as a whole.
If you all didn't notice SYF is the second last 'performance' we'll have together, and the only SYF we'll have together.
I really hope you all will enjoy the process, the fun, the laughter, the pain, the sweat and everything.
Getting gold is our aim, by attaining that please please please enjoying the music you're playing and we're playing. Feel the music!
Proving to others kcco can make it is another point. We don't have to please others to get a gold. It is really whether you yourself want kcco to get a gold.

You all may feel that whatever i'm saying now is useless, but i hope it'll make some sense to you, and you understand what am i trying to say. I'm neither telling stories nor scolding you.
But i really hope everything will go smoothly and so everyone is happy. All we can do now is to spent our time wisely on practising. We've not much time, everyone is counting down. Don't waste your time scolding people or whatever, it's useless. Really!will people even care?

During SYF, if you feel very nervous, think of steffi!!!!hahah, no lar!listen to the music and think about the times we spent together. Eh, but don't forget to play ah!You won't feel that nervous..maybe?hahah

Treasure that you all have such good instructors!Really. Mr Goh is super nice, have you ever see Mr Goh scold us? RARELY OR NEVER RIGHT? See? And Mr Goh is our conductor, please don't take advantage of him even if he doesn't mind. You might never know!And Mr Ang, though kaywerlyn says Mr Ang is ahem ahem, he's a good instructor or should i say he is a lenient instructor, anyway! They have their limits, please respect them. START TO PUT IN EFFORT OR WASTE YOUR TIME, YOUR CHOICE.
You never know we can achieve what we want unless you try, seriously. I'm not going to force you to cooperate whatsoever, just put in your utmost effort and play as good as you can.
But if you don't want super duper awesome instructors then ignore me. I tell you, these instructors are the most awesome, I had worse instructors and they really lock you in a room to practice until you're perfect and expect you to play one by one in front of the whole orchestra. Trust me, you wouldn't want deadly instructors like them.

Today was the FATEFUL day of our COMBINED SYF CONCERT. How was it?

Personally, I thought it was better than the one at RI. But not much better.

I think we dont have much problems now.

The major problem now is coping with our stage fright.

One way that I've invented, is to close your eyes and imagine the audience behind Mr Goh when you play, just like today. Think of Mr Goh's conducting, and all the audience intently hanging on to your every note. Then play. Try to not think that you're just at home, practicing or whatever. Try to put yourself in the SYF scenario.

I dont know if this works. You can dont listen to me if you think it isnt good. :D

Ok I've nothing much to say at this point in time lor...

Too late to make drastic improvements, but I believe that if everyone tries to better themselves, everyone would naturally improve as a section la.

Wanshan has improved quite a bit, as noticed by me. I hope you all improve like her too!

Play over your weak parts over and over again. Like FNJ's second house...

Cant play it, then just focus on it. Play the whole thing in one go. Cant? Split it up into half. Perfect the first half, then the next half, then together. Still cant? Split it up even more. Try and try and try till you can. Devote half an hour to practicing it. There's no use practice the rest of the song; no use practicing your good spots. It's the weak ones that you have to work on.

Ok... comment on my weak points too ok? What I need now are comments on how to improve. :D

Hey, how was today? What do you think of our CO, or perhaps our section?
I thought it was pretty bad, as a whole. Even though some people said that we improved, I think we did our worst today. Okay maybe not the worst, but not really good. Hey okay, I know that it's my fault that I didn't play for solo and whatever. I'm tired of hearing that. But we did pretty bad I think. Okay fine, I'm sorry. I was the one who did very bad. Anyway, we rushed through both songs and MrGoh ended up following us. Plus, tai feng. Some of you did it, but no one could see. We still have tomorrow, but for 2 hours only. I seriously think we need more practice so I think every thursday should have extra practice, either sectionals or combine because percussion need music in order to practice. Don't be nervous tomorrow like last time, remember what Mr Sim said? I know it's kinda hard to do it but hey, you never know until you try. I don't expect you to practice tonight because I know today's a tiring day. Just do your best for tomorrow, you don't have to care about the other school. They won't dare to say anything about our CO if we play very well. Don't rush throughout the whole song, LOOK at the conductor.

So, it's damn fun to complain about the 'intensive' practices right? Complain some more la, I swear I'll slap your faces. Look, you all are so lousy. How to get gold? This year's batch of other school's CO is so freaking good. They have so much more practices, do you want practices on Monday to Sunday? Seriously, you all have to be more mature. All the teachers and instructors are trying so hard to make us improve our idiotic standard, and here you are slacking and playing like an idiot. Put yourselves into other people's shoes can you? Don't be so stupid and look at things in the wrong way. Yes, you all can play, but at the right time. I'm not scolding you but I'm trying to motivate you to do the right thing. It's so annoying to hear people moan when they hear that they have last minute practices. I know it's my fault that it's so last minute, but the other sections also have practices and they also heard of it at the last minute. Do you think that it will be fair if the whole woodwind have fun and leave the rest to work hard for SYF? I'm not asking you to jump down the building or something right? Is it such a hard thing to do? Just practice, so easy. What's your fucking problem? Just practice, won't die right. You think you're so pro, but you are so lousy. For example dizi, some of you are practically blowing air, not the sound. Then suona, just because the CO needs you doesn't mean that you're so pro and you don't need extra practices. Every single one of you is not up to standard. Do you know how much the seniors have put in to bring KCCO to this standard? If you don't, go ask Iris or any other seniors.
And SO WHAT if any of the extra practices falls on your birthday or your parents or grandparents or great grandparent's? It's just a birthday for goodness sake, there's always a next year. Just grow up. You don't skip school and tell your teacher "Oh yesterday's my birthday that's why I didn't go school." right? CO is a school thing, so there's no excuse to skip practices unless they are valid. Go eat yourself, seriously.
There's so much more I want to say but I can think of these only.

Suonas, what was with the grumbling when I told you all to practice on Mon. If you could not make it on Mon, I wouldn't have been that angry. What pisses me off is that you all said that you all didn't see the need to have extra practice. You all can't be bothered, and think that you all are very important- just because if you get kicked out, no one will play the suona, and KCCO will fall. So according to you all, even if you suck, it doesn't matter. You all don't need to practice.

Simple things like that, and you all can't do it. Tai feng is not something you do because it's difficult and will thus give you more points for SYF. It's something you do to show the world that you enjoy the music you play, and that enjoyment itself is what make judges want to give you all more marks.

I assume you all have heard about how we're sandwiched by good schools in SYF. Yup, Gold with honors for one, and Gold for the other. The Gold with honors is the one before us. Be scared and stress. Just strive for the best, it doesn't matter if you achieve bad results or not. Do your best, don't let the seniors, teachers, school and yourself down.
&When we arrange extra practices for you all please don't moan or groan, because no one's dying. Be more mature please. &Don't give excuses like your dog died or something.
SYF is coming in less an 3 months. 3 months past very fast. Practice at home. And do your freaking tai feng.

Okay, so how was combine/sectional? You girls improved alot during combine, from SUPER DUPER high noise level, to 3% of noise level. YAYNESS! So, how was today? The rehearsal. Bad? Good? I thought that it was quite bad. Because NO ONE DID TAI FENG. Before rehearsal I told you all that if you don't move, I'm going to punch you right? So now I have to punch the 20 of you, including me. I know some did move, but audience couldn't see. Someone commented and said that we all weren't moving, we're like statues. I forgot who but it was true. I know you all were nervous, and couldn't really hear other sections when they play but don't worry, you're playing it correctly. Concert's finally over! Although there are some disturbing comments in some of the people's blog about KCCO, I think this concert is a success. Heck all those bad comments, they're just jealous we're good. Hahaha no la. Read their comments and try to improve. :D This concert won't be a success without all of your hard work! Thanks everyone! We can finally relax but not for long, we still have SYF and we have to beat the freaking vsco. Anyway, practices will resume on the 17th December 2008, if I'm not wrong. Thanks once again, for everything you've put in for KCCO's first concert.

Hey, concert's on this coming Monday. Are you all prepared? :D I'm not here to criticise people this time. Yay :D Hope every one's file is already rearranged into the correct order, so there won't be any confusion on the concert day. Okay, I can see that you all are doing your very best for tai feng, but it's not really enough because the strings can't see it properly. If the strings can't see our tai feng the audience can't see it too. And if the audience can't see it, they'll criticise our CO and that'll be bad right? :D The flutes are in the Gym so we can't practice. Just do your best, it's okay if we make mistakes on that day. We're here to share our love for music and have a little fun and experience. The seniors are the stressed ones, they practiced really hard for this. We wouldn't want them to think that they've wasted their effort bringing KCCO to this stage right? I feel that we can do better then today, I hope KCCO's first concert will be a success.(:

Yo. How's everyone today? :D

Just felt like coming here to blog, to "revitalise" everyone for concert.

You know, I felt really nervous today (especially for Polka Dot Dance). I really wondered how it would feel to be playing to an entire bunch of audience, who are hanging on to your every move (or note, in this case). I hope you all arent as scared as me, although I want to use this fear in all of our hearts to manipulate you all to do something. :D Cuz I know you all dont want to screw up.

TAI FENG.

Ok I think that's enough said. You all know what to do already, right? Anyway, I think that we Woodwind-ers are already good enough in this aspect. It's just the rest of the orchestra that acts like wood. I heard that certain sections even had solo performances in front of the whole section just so that the teachers/students can analyse and criticise their playing/tai feng. :D At least we dont have that. It shows that Mr Ang doesnt really worry much about us. But then again, that could be due to the fact that he only cares about his newborn son now. :D

Ok I know that everyone is extremely tired by now (including me) from the intense practice we're having. It's hard to improve now, according to my senior, but that doesnt mean we cant refine our playing. Concert's coming soon, like an dying person facing certain death. I know that concert seems like that to some of you, but I hope that before the end of everything, you can give your all, and face others proudly with your head held high, knowing that you did your best.

Okay, I finally remembered what I wanted to say today.

1. Noise level.
Our noise level in combine is very high. So, people like Fenglin,Xingwen,Jocelyn,Lisabeth,Amanda,Noreen,Steffi,Iris and myself have to reduce our noise level.(:

2. Look at MrGoh.
Please practice at home until you are familiar with the songs so that in combine you don't have to stick your eyes on the scores and you can look at MrGoh instead. Whatever MrGoh says please draw/write in your scores so you can remember.

3. Attitude.
Our attitude towards concert and CO is bad, so can you all be more enthusiastic? :D Okay, erm. Oh ya. I know the seniors worked hard to bring KCCO to this stage, but it's not enough. I know some of you will say "We're already very good so why do we need to improve?" . The point is, we're good, but not good enough. You can't just give 50% effort and expect KCCO to improve. For KCCO to improve, we have to give 100% of our effort.

4. Tai Feng.
We've been nagging about this for more then 1 week. Please, do tai feng. I know you all are scared that people will laugh at you and everything, but doing tai feng means you're enjoying the music that you're playing. It's the same as singers dancing. Imagine going to Rihanna's concert and she's just standing there, singing. Are you all going to like the concert? So, please do tai feng. I know some of you did the tai feng but is it enough for the audience to see? I hope to see improvements soon.

I'm not saying all these because I'm free. It's just that I think we don't give our 100% to KCCO and our CO's first concert. It's KCCO's FIRST CONCERT. If you want people to think that we can be better, please buck up everything : skills and attitude.(:

Hi all. Jocelyn here. How was camp? I hope you enjoyed it, despite all the low points.

I just felt like blogging here, damn long never blog liaos. Anyway, I'll take this opportunity to clarify some issues.

absence from practices

Well, this doesnt really apply to most of us but SOME- Elizabeth, for instance. I havent seen her for like, a long time. To Elizabeth: You know that you're not very proficient in your suona right, yet whenever there's extra practice you have "tuition". I dont even know if you're lying or not. Then for compulosory practices, like during the camp, you still have to attend, but I dont see you anywhere. This cant be tolerated, you know. If you play badly you'll bring the whole CO down for concert. So, please attend CO practices.

And dont tell me I'm being condescending or whatever, you should have that sense of urgency in you. Same goes to all those who are planning to skip future practices.

tai feng

Enough said about that, right? I know that it may feel weird, but we HAVE to do it. I know I cant really say too much about this, seeing how my tai feng isnt very obvious myself, but I'll try to improve. And if I can improve, so can you. Dizi/suona tai feng is MUCH easier than shengs'. I know I sound like I'm giving shengs excuses... Ok, I will make sure I have tai feng. You all must do the same ok?

Do you know, we will sound much better with expression (which goes hand in hand with tai feng). I mean, I know you all play loud when you're supposed to be loud, etc. But then there are certain songs where there are parts where we are supposed to play as though we are singing. I know dizis can blow very nicely (Alicia, to name an example). You all should learn from how Mr Ang play. Ok, we're not really that pro, so this whole passage really applies to only those who can cope with going up a notch higher.

working attitude

I know that I may be very difficult to work with, seeing how I'm rather uncaring and rude, but everyone should have the basic attitude towards CO- love making music, enjoy it. Dont keep grumbling about how you hate CO, etc. If you hate CO, why join? Since you've joined, you should make a consciencious effort to excel in it. Strive for the better.

Ok I know you all will hate me for berating you from this whole blog post but I hope it helped. I hope you all will learn to appreciate CO more and play pro-ly. (: Jia you for the upcoming concert and SYF. We are great, and you know it. :D

Reason: So that you can look at Mr Goh, & dont go too fast or too slow, know when to jian qiang and jian luo, also will have a higher chance of not playing wrong. Its very important to memorise. So please please please memorise.

Please try not to come late for practises.
Reason: Every practise is very important to us. We dont have enough time already. So if any of you come late, and you are the main player for some parts, we'll all die.

Please practise at home.
Reason: We already dont have enough time. Please brush up on your skills. Plus if any of you are late, we'll have lesser time to practise. *I know this is somewhat similar to the second one. :x

Noise level.
I know humans cannot resist the temptation to talk.
Talk when necessary.
Like if you have questions to ask, ask then keep quiet. Lower down your volume when you ask questions also.

Camp.
Please bring all the items that you have to bring. And be in proper attire. Otherwise FLS will start scolding people.

Extra practise.
We have private sectionals, which is 9am-12pm on 5th december 2008. Then we'll have a 2 hour break & go back to school for combined at 2pm-5pm. Dont forget to come, & dont be late. *Taken from Kaywerlyn's previous post.

please please please try to memorise your scores.

Next, try to memorise the concert songs.
From what I heard and see ,
it will be hard for some people to look at their scores & look at mr goh.
Most probably we have to memorise the scores for the concert,
so it is a good thing to memorise so that we can look at mr goh and then we wont blow wrongly,
and also for the concert .

GuanYue's volume is already quite soft.
Just that we have to be more serious.
Some of us are not helping in stacking the chairs etc.

okay,here goes.
yesterday,the suonas were talking loudly,i dont like.
sheng people were giggling away.

and noreen and steffi's playing away,i dont dare to say steffi because she's my senior and my friend,but,yah.
i mean just dont play until the chair make the icky sound okay(:

Ok? I know some of you will go, "HAAAAAAAAAAHHH... DONT WANT LA!" or something liddat... but or else we will stay at the same level and never improve.

Ok. So if I remember, I will test you all one by one for FNJ and you all are also expected to remember the expressions (eg. loud/soft, getting louder, etc.) basically.

I'll test the Sec 1s, then the Sec 2s, but maybe not the Sec 3s cuz testing your seniors seems very rude and stressful all the same.

But nvm cuz the Sec 3s should be better than the juniors all the same cuz they're older and more experienced after all, not to say the example they have to set for the juniors.

Lol. So ok? I'll test the lower sec people...

Lol sorry but I think such measures have to be taken once in a while, or else we might lag behind during combined.

It's quite a long time since I create a post here, right? Haha, sorry lar......
I hope that you guys do great during practices, seriously I really do miss the old times with you guys. I miss Chinese Orchestra, I miss Guan Yue, and most of all I miss the good times we had together. Striving for SYF, EMDD etc.......

I rather have practice and combine practice almost everyday, not like now still got time eat, sleep and drawings. This life is quite bored without a CCA you know -.-"

I was thinking of joining back Chinese Orchestra, but the problem is it only available at Simei ITE, and there's always nothing better to do at there. So that's why I rather be being bored at home than going to Simei ITE so far doing nothing.

So I supposed that some of you must memorise the EMDD scores, right? Remember don't slack hor especially seniors, ok? =)

I will try to visit you guys if I can, I swear to God. =D

I'm more familiar with you people, so I can really give more feedback. Ok, I have a list of people who I think are just not working hard enough/cant be bothered. It may sound like I trying to bring you all down, but here's my honest opinion. Ok, I will add in nice comments too. (:

gao yin sheng

Lisabeth (& partly to me): We must work hard and practice on our trill. Whatever that thing is called. It's hard but still have to. If we can really do it then it's really good, hahas. And stop laughing at me when I look retarded! :D

zhong yin sheng

Effie: You are really improving a lot, even though you cant practice at home, lols. It's really good. I just think that your rhythm is a bit off. But it's just a slight setback; work harder to prove yourself proficient in ZYS. (: And play louder. Dun be scared. You do play correctly and if you blow so softly you might as well dun play, as no one can hear, least of all Mr Goh. (: Have more confidence. Jia You!

Wan Shan: You need to work a little harder. I feel that you are just relying on Effie, and that adds to her stress, not to say, make her PANIC. You need to blow well too. You are somewhat "following behind" her. As in, she plays the note then you play. Correct me if I'm wrong but that's what I think happens sometimes. You are not bad but you need to have the correct work ethics, lol. I sound evil but really. That's what I think.

Rachel: You are the only GY suona player currently in combined (without the newcomers), and that adds to your stress somewhat, right? (: When you play in combined, you have to play well. Or else, Mr Goh will single you out to play, and everyone will stare at you, and you will look at everyone and laugh. -.- Lol. Just play well. You are good; so far you are the person I feel has the longest breath. Which isnt surprising as you are a suona player. :D

Elizabeth: You are lazing around with Grace. I know that you both are in the same class and therefore have a lot of conversation topics, but you should know better than to slack. You should encourage Grace to practice along with you. I hope you can get the chance to boast of your good skills in the future- but you have to work hard first. Ok? (:

Ming Wai: You are the best suona player, according to me. Well, you are older than Rachel and all the other suona players. (: Keep it up. (: I really do think that you are good. :D Or is good an understatement?

Grace: YOU AH. You started out the same day as me and all I hear is complaints from you saying that you want to go home or that you are BORED, when you ought to be practicing. Cant you just try your best? If you play, you wont be bored, right? Common sense. You really need to show interest, even though suona wasnt what you wanted to play. I know you and I wanted to join percussion in the first place but we both we placed into guan yue. It's not like I wanted to play sheng in the first place. But at least I gave it a chance. You should to. You are making Elizabeth follow in your footsteps, you know. I know you can do it, it's whether you want to or not. I leave it to you to decide if you want to be able to say "I play the suona" in JC if you DSA; with confidence or you want to be procrastinating. Nobody wants to remind you to "JUST TRY" anymore during combined. Nobody may say it but I for one, feel fed up with your attitude to the suona. I'm not suan-ning you, but I really feel this way.

I hope those are constructive comments. Dizi players- I do not know much abt you dizi people, but I know that you all play VERY WELL. I'm not kidding. Seriously, people like Alicia- you all have tai feng, plus you all play with loads of expression. I'm envious, lols.

Hey Guan Yue!

How are you all? Hahaha.

Since I have the time now, I've decided to blog.

And also to sustain the life of this blog. :D

I know this is kind of late, but I would really like to express my deepest appreciation to Iris, Amanda & Kaywerlyn for supporting me by attending SAJCCO Concert. :)
